User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars Great packaging, Great movies, Great transfers.
These are the same discs and packaging that you would buy individually, just with an extra cardboard case to keep them together. No digipaks or foam spindle holder here. Each one comes in its own normal blu-ray case. If you add more to your collection you can ditch the outer cardboard case and everything will match. As for the movies, look up the individual reviews for each title, but MGM has done a terrific job with them.
4 Stars Bond movie set
Bought as a gift. Recipient is a Bond fan so he is happy. Bond movies are entertaining as always.
5 Stars Brilliant transfer quality
Nothing is more disappointing than ordering one of your all time favorite movies on Blue-Ray expecting a top-notch movie experience only to discover that the digital transfer was poorly done (Patten for example). Happily, this set of Jame Bond films are how transfers should be done. Crisp, clean images with rich detail that makes watching these great movies even more of a pleasure. Each of these films is a 9-10/10 in transfer quality. For a serious Bond fan, there are a must.
The packaging is also great with individual blue-ray cases for each film. They will perfectly match any other set you purchase (and hopefully any Bond movies to come out in the future).
This is the way Bond is supposed to be seen. Awesome and highly recommended to all.
2 Stars more expensive than seperates
Why does this cost $160 when Amazon lists set 1 at $42.99, set 2 at $42.99 and set 3 at $31.99 plus Quantum for $21.99….total $139.96 ! a full $20 cheaper than this set and all the movies are exactly the same!!! What gives??
5 Stars Great Movies, Great Packaging!
Just to confirm comments provided by another reviewer, this set includes all ten movies in individual blu-ray cases. In fact, some of the original tape on the top of the blu-ray cases was still attached, as if Amazon had opened the movies (or used previously opened movies) and simply repackaged them. I inspected all of the movies though and did not notice any scratches or finger prints, so believe them to be new. The cardboard box is simply used to house them, but can be discarded. This packaging is much nicer and more protective of the discs than that of the 3 disc sets. Those sets have silly foam inserts stuck to cardboard sleeves, which are supposed to keep the discs secured; however, the foam is attached with a weak adhesive, making the discs prone to harm if they become dislodged during transport or frequent use.
As for the movies themselves, the PQ and AQ are phenomenal. I own the Ultimate DVD set and did a quick comparison on my Panasonic 50V10. The blu-rays are noticeably crisper with significantly more detail apparent. The Lowry restoration and resolution available with blu-ray have allowed these movies to age very well. I am happy about upgrading and will be posting my DVDs on Ebay soon. Hopefully, I’ll be able to replace the rest of the films in the near future. Highly recommended for any Bond fan!!!
