The full two-hour performance of Liza Minnelli’s 2009 Tony Award-winning concert, LIZA’S AT THE PALACE, is available only on this special collector’s edition. This exciting midnight performance was recorded at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on October 1, 2009.
Act One features favorite songs by Ms. Minnelli, including Cabaret, Maybe This Time, What Makes a Man a Man, and My Own Best Friend. A first act highlight is Liza’s special rendition of the Palace Medley, originally sung by her mother, Judy Garland, at the Palace Theatre in 1951. Liza adds a new personal musical introduction to the fond remembrance of famous vaudevillians. Act Two is very special tribute to Liza’s godmother, Kay Thompson, a groundbreaking singer-dancer, songwriter, and vocal arranger/coach at the MGM studios in the 1940 s.

Oscar, Tony, Grammy, and Emmy winner Liza Minnelli will release her first-ever Blu-ray disc on February 2. Liza’s at the Palace, a recording of her big 2009 Tony-winning Broadway show, will also be released on DVD from MPI.
The show was recorded at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on October 1, 2009, where she re-created her Broadway show at the Palace Theater. The full two-hour performance features songs written by such greats as George and Ira Gershwin, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, Sammy Cahn and the team most associated with Minnelli, John Kander and Fred Ebb, composers of the showstoppers “Cabaret,” “Maybe This Time,” “But the World Goes ‘Round” and “New York, New York.” The performance also includes two special tributes: to Minnelli’s mother, Judy Garland, via a performance of Garland’s own 1951 Palace Theater tribute to vaudeville; and to Minnelli’s godmother, Kay Thompson, a groundbreaking singer-dancer, songwriter and vocal arranger/coach at MGM in the 1940s.
Minnelli is joined in the program by her Broadway co-star and musical director, Billy Stritch. The show is directed by the Oscar- and Emmy-nominated Matthew Diamond.

It’s always amazing to see something available for pre-Order but no description at all. No song list, duration, video format , audio choices. We know who she is/but what exactly is the show?
When I’ll know more I’ll delete my review but it would be nice from Amazon to inform us correctly on this one.

5 Stars THE MAGIC THAT IS “LIZA” MINNELLI
Liza is the definition of a true entertainer. I saw this show 3 years ago in Las Vegas at the Luxor when it was a vision to her to give tribute to Kay Thompson her Godmother and also tell stories about her dad and mama. I recently saw her at the Hollywood Bowl and bring 18,000 people to their feet. Liza is Liza. She gives everything in a performance because her audience gives her everything back. You either lover her or not. She’s still here and she looks wonderful and sounds better than ever and it all comes from the heart of Liza. Buy this DVD and see for yourself.I have seen her 33 times in concert from 1979-August of 2009(at the Hollywood Bowl) and I’m looking forward to the next time. I hope you enjoy this DVD as much as I will.

Liza Minnelli has had a wild roller coaster ride in the past decade career wise and in her personal life yet has come out on top with this magnificent performance from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas…make no mistake about it, the legendary lady is in top form once again and this brilliantly filmed concert is a sublime showcase of her superb singing and performing skill & Minnelli struts her stuff in high style in a passionate performance that will take your breath away! Taped before an adoring crowd in the fall of 2009 after a wildly successful & incredibly great two-night stint at The Hollywood Bowl, it is clear Minnelli was ready for her big close-up as this awesome DVD captures the essence of this legend for old fans and a whole new generation to savor and enjoy over and over again! Bravo Liza…you really made it this time and we are lucky for it!!!
