Not just Saturday Night Live-movie good, when the movie has some funny bits but is basically an insult to humanity; Elf is a smartly written, skillfully directed, and deftly acted story of a human being adopted by Christmas elves who returns to the human world to find his father. And because the writing, directing, and acting are all genuinely good, Elf is also genuinely funny. Will Ferrell, as Buddy the adopted elf, is hysterically sincere. James Caan, as his rediscovered father, executes his surly dumbfoundedness with perfect aplomb. Zooey Deschanel, as a department store worker with whom Buddy falls in love, is adorably sardonic. Director Jon Favreau (Swingers) shepherds the movie through all the obligatory Christmas cliches and focuses on material that’s sometimes subtle and consistently surprising. Frankly, Elf feels miraculous. Also featuring Mary Steenburgen, Bob Newhart, Peter Dinklage, and Ed Asner as Santa Claus. –Bret Fetzer

5 Stars Fun Film For Everyone
I really loved this movie and have owned it on DVD and Blu-Ray. It just doesn’t dissapoint, Will Ferrell is truly committed to his role as an elf. It’s one of those movies where the whole thing is consistently funny, not one where the only funny bits showed up in the trailer. It’s a great film for the whole family, and my family watches it year round!

the movie Elf is a wonderful film for all ages. My little sister, parents, and me all enjoyed the hilarious Will Ferrel . His performance as a elf was outstanding. The movie is about a man named Buddy who realizes he is not a true elf and has a father in New York. He sets out through many perilous adventures and creates a comical scene for everyday new yorkers. The movie is trully hilarious and can be enjoyed by many different ages.
5 Stars Not Your Typical Will Ferrell Movie
I love christmas movies, and this one definitely adds a modern twist to christmas movies. I like the fact that Will Ferrell plays an elf. He really brings out the kid in himself. I really always enjoy watching this movie and I always laugh every time. This is hilarious by the way! I recommend this for people who like Will Ferrell as an actor and holiday movies. Worth the money!
